I am based in the Bedfordshire area (near Ampthill) and looking for
some like minded people to go shooting with in the new year. I haven't
been shooting for long (about 5 months) and like to get out every
weekend if I can.
Some of the guys I have been shooting with also do Pratical Shooting
(running through the woods shooting at plates) and this doesn't really
appeal to me (far too much effort).
I am hoping to do some reg ESP shoots around the country, and practice
and it would be nice to go with a group of like minded folk.
My email is rob-at-mantiscomputing.com (replace the -at- with @) so
drop me an email if you interested in getting together.

Cheers

(By Location: Best to use the X/Y coordinates from MultiMap)

So did I ! ;-)

But I found that entering the (X,Y) coordinates from MultiMap instead of the
URL worked OK :-)

If you try it again you should find it works - I hope! Let me know if it
doesn't. My web hosting company had upgraded versions of php and I needed
to tweak things a little bit.

Unfortunately if you do a multimap search to find a location and just
enter a postcode, then it comes back with a URL which doesn't have either
X/Y or GridE/GridN elements in it (which is what my website parses out of
the URL). Luckily though if you click to move your multimap map just a
fraction from the original search results you will get a new URL which
does contain X/Y coords for me to extract

Try www.sportingtargets.co.uk - talk to the staff there and I'm sure
they'll match you up with some people to go round with whether it's a
member's competition (and if you're in Ampthill I can't see you not
joining Sporting Targets, really), a registered shoot, or just practice.

Alternatively pop over to my local club www.countrypursuitscambridge.co.uk
First Sunday of the month is easy practice day, second and last are
competitions, remaining Sundays are in between. Full details on website.

Thanks for the advice. I am a member of S.Targets and shoot there a
lot.
I am looking for people to shoot with, not places to shoot, and got any
ideas?

Shoot squadded competitions and talk to the people in your squad; you can
soon make shooting friends that way; when booking a squad ask who is in
squads with spaces - grounds are quite happy to team people up with others
that they know. At the end of a squadded competition, "checking the
scores" on the scorecards is a good way of making sure you got their names
right for next time!

Other than that, just talk to people. Turn up on your own to shoot;
mention that you're own your own at reception, and they'll soon point the
next solo shooter in your direction; just have a coffee [and be fully
ready to go in the case the other shooter is fully ready to go] whilst you
wait.

Alternatively, ask in here!! I'm out of the region for a while on family
business, but I#d be gald to try to meet up sometime late January onwards
at S.Targets.

Certainly if you get as far east as Country Pursuits, we regularly team
solo shooters up with others as we don't have claymate so everyone needs
someone to press the buttons!

Hiya Andrew! Have you got your gun fitted/traded it for one that fits
yet? Have you found your scores soar as a result?

If not, prepare for a shock when you see Sarah shooting with her new [gosh
it fits] gun :)

Oooh err rmissus! :-)

I'm saving for a new gun but having just lashed out a fortune on a
house it may be a while. When I get the new gun I will have it fitted
but it may be a few months. Just spent my bonus paying off my credit
card.......

Who did Sarahs gun fitting???

Who did Sarahs gun fitting???
It hasn't been fully fitted yet; what has happened is that after numerous
attempts at instructors trying to solve Sarah's mount problem, Barry
Simpson said "you don't need a higher comb, you need a *lower* comb". Upon
which he gave Sarah a Miroku MK70 to try and first time out with it she
shot a registered 67, second time out a registered 66. Some way clear of
her previous personal best for registered ESP scores (and winning money to
boot!). First round of skeet with the new gun was 24ex25.

So confident is she of the difference that she traded the Beretta in a
week later, and got several hundred quid more for the trade in than the
new gun cost - so don't necessarily assume that getting a new gun will
cost you money!
