I bought a Falco .410 side by side last week, just to see what they are
like, as I'd always fancied a small bore gun.
I've used it 4 times now on the sporting course at Kibworth, and each
time have got scores in the 20's out of 50, which I was very pleased
with - I got a 26 yesterday, with 14 grams of shot - my usual score with
a 12b is 35-40, so I think I'm doing something right with the 410!

This one stands me at £130, 85 purchase price and 45 to repair it(the
barrels were twisted when bought), I like shooting this so much, that
I'm going to be on the lookout for a better one. This one is very basic,
fixed open chokes (or should that be no choke at all, just a straight
barrel), double trigger and short barrels (24").
I'm after something with longer barrels at least. Yildiz do a brand new
one at £400, and BSA at £600,but other than that, there doesnt seem to
be many other double barrel 410's available.

Anyone tried either of those, or should I be looking for a 2nd hand
older model?
Less than £300 would be a real bonus.
Ta
Alan.

Haven't tried any 410s, but the missus and I have just splashed out on a
pair[ish] of 28 bores. Cracking little guns. I shot the club round today
with 37ex50 with 12b and 34ex50 with the 28b. 19g loads. Admittedly I
probably should have shot 45 with the 12, but even so the 34 with the 28
was very pleasing. And the lack of recoil is quite remarkable. It seems
odd that the recoild from 19-24-28g seems to go sort of 1-2-3 in perceived
strength...

Yes, this 410 is very lightweight, but there is virtually no recoil with
either 11 or 14 g shells.
I tried a Yildiz 410 at the ground today, 2 chaps had 410's, and let me
try them, the 1st was a Lincoln Premier o/u at £650ish new, I was a bit
taken aback by the weight of it - quite heavy, probably using a 20b
action, as it was a bit too 'chunky' for a small gun. This one is off
the list, as apart from when it is fired, there is little difference
between it and a 12b.
The Yildiz s/s was quite light, well proportioned, but at £400 new is
rather a disappointment,it had a gloss black and satin type finishes on
the action/barrels, which look remarkably like spray paint. To me, a s/s
needs to have plain metal or blacked action. The chap had only had it 6
weeks, and wanted to sell it already(which says it all really), as he
wanted a Lincoln the same as his mate, he was looking for £325(he had
been offered 275 as a trade in against a £650 Lincoln - ouch!).It doesnt
feel to me like it will last well, and will be worth next to bugger all
in 2 years time.Another off the list.
I may just stick with this one I've got - back to basics shotgunning,
lightweight, cheap,if it gets bashed I wont be too bothered, and if I
miss, it wouldnt be my fault - look at this rubbish little gun I'm
using!
