Can you believe it.

Took the 28" Remington out for its 4/5 outing after the barrel was replaced.

Bit of skeet.. First stand.. No reload, try again, bang... no reload..

Take it back to the club house and strip it down.

In a nut shell, the magazine has dislodged itself from the receiver. I push
it back it (needed force and I could pull it back out again), went back to
try again.. 2 reloads went ok.. Thought id sussed it, and the 3rd, it fell
apart again..

Im being told its got to be brazed back on, also been told it was a common
problem on early 11-87s...

Just written another grovelly letter to Remington but think I might have
pushed my luck getting it done under warranty again..

Sigh....

New 105CTi is out in the UK now.. Loads on guntrader.. But only 28" barrels
at the moment..

Yep - common problem -- my 1187 had mag tube come out twice - while they are
the best handling semi out there they are carp quality - I am not sure what
reciever is made from - alloy or metal but if metal if it was me after it's
been brazed back on "Straight" then I would go to a speciallist welder and
get two small Tig welds put on join - one each side - in fact I would have
it done on any 1100/1187. prevention and all that.
The 105CTi looks interesting but what is quality like and what's wrong with
28" barrels.- shot one of those Hatsans - was impressed with what you got
for money and it has a 3yrs guarantee

Plan/fancy 11-87s aren't in the 2007 catalogue. All you can get is upland /
camo specials.

The 1100 has come back with vengeance with the G3 teflon coated mech and
appears to be the clay shooters choice again.

The 105CTi is being pitched as a game gun rather than a clay gun.

Having shot the 28" and the 30" 11-87s back to back I'm getting positive
results with the 30". Where I was a back runner for top scores in our little
group, the 30" has pushed me to the front.

I have Brilley extension chokes on the 28" and normally shoot half choke,
with the 30" im shooting 1/4 remi-chokes but Im not loosing out on distant
clays

In saying that. I've dropped a remi skeet choke in the 28" instead of the
Brilley extension choke and Im clearing 24/25 on skeet most of the time now.

Maybe Im not a Brilley choke shooter..

Im going to try and find a gunshop that has the facility to try the 105, if
I like it Ill loose one of the Remis and my 32" barrel O/U and get one

Ive written to Remington to see if I can get anything done under warranty
but failing that Ill be taking that advice of a tig weld.

Off to DeeDees next week for a long weekend so Ill have to take the 30" Remi
(which has already blown a chunk out of its old two piston setup, Ill be
making one good gun out of 2)

If you get a 105 I will make a trip to Kibworth - I don't bother with
chokes anymore - just stick to half for everything -skeet -DTL -sporting --
