Plastic or fibre

I mainly shoot Clays at locations where plastic wads are allowed, but
sometimes also at others where only fibre is to be used.
My question is, should you use fibre wads everywhere and maintain a constant
match of gun/cartridge or use plastic/fibre depending on the location.
I'm not sure of the exact ballistic differences between the two, or even at
the standard i shoot at (65%-80%) whether it makes any difference.

Regards

Gary.

IMHO I always shoot plastics if I have the choice. In plastics you get
better gas seal with the wad & the pellets are held in a cup until they
leave the barrel. With fibres the pellets get rubbed down the length of
the barrel & give 'flyers' as the balls at the edge now have a flat on
one side. Plastics tend to give you a size up in choke. Get yourself a
box of various plastics to find the one that your gun/style likes and
repeat with fibres. I use World cups or RC4s for plastics & white gold
F2s for fibre. These work best for me/my gun.
So my opinion is to use plastics where you can, if not revert to 'the
preferred weapon of choice' in Fibre!
Have fun

You need to be a top shot to be able to tell the difference between the two.
It has been said before, here and elsewhere, that the difference could be
expressed as being between 1/4 and 1/2 a choke, plastic being the tighter.
IMO grounds which allow plastic wads usually put on a few targets at extreme
range that you may struggle to hit with fibre, to separate the men from the
boys. I suggest plastic 7's for distance and fibre 9's for the close stuff
until one is good enough to be scientific about ballistics. :-)
